And we feasted: Feastival 2016 Recap

My very first Feastival experience could not have been better- an intoxicating maze of tables laden with plated bites for the grabbing, shaken cocktails for every empty glass, and performers in various contortions. Each year, proceeds support FringeArts and their efforts in bringing contemporary art to Philly.

I really need to locate and befriend the winning bidder of the Ultimate Party Dinner auction item (a meal at your home for 20 friends cooked by Jon Cichon of Lacroix, Eli Collins of Pub & Kitchen, Nick Elmi of Laurel/ITV, Joncarl Lachman of Noord/Neuf/The Dutch, Lee Styer of Fond/ The Dutch and Peter Woolsey of Bistro La Minette). I gazed in awe at the bendability of the Circadium performers and swayed to the tunes of Red 40 and the Last Groovement. I ate land and sea creature, plants, and grains. BUT always one to pick savory, I failed to have a single dessert as I simply got too stuffed.

From my very first bite, a punchy hamachi crude from Serpico at the Ice Bar, I knew everything I heard about this event was true. #Treatyoself was in full effect with charred lamb from Zahav's fire pit, nostalgic creamed chipped beef waffle from The Dutch, puffed pork chips from Laurel, a perfect scallop from Tredici. Each restaurant was ready for the crowd, with rows of plates instead of lines for food. The groovy lighting gave guests a dreamy loveliness but did less to capture the food. But I am proud of this Snapchat pun:

If you made it out to this year's Feastival, I hope you had as much fun as I did!
